Works fine

Involvement: General (knows how to use it) - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week |
| Price: |
| Ease of Use: |
| Build Quality: |
| Usefulness: |
| Overall Rating: |
Pros:It's easy to use, and it uses the common AAA batteries instead of the actual laser pointer batteries.
Cons:The screw cap was a little hard to put in. It seems like you can just push it in with a little force instead of screwing it in.
Other Thoughts:The button was a little hard to press, I don't know if it was a con or pro. Also, the socket where to place in the batteries was a dried white liquid in it. It still works fine.
Bottomline:I'd definitely get this. A 5mw red laser pointer for a cheap price, although the build quality was about average

Bright Beam, Common Batteries

| Price: |
| Ease of Use: |
| Build Quality: |
| Usefulness: |
| Overall Rating: |
Pros:This is a good laser pointer at a good price. The best part is that it uses the common AAA batteries.
Cons:I bought two, and one of their beams is not quite as focused as the other, but it is not much that I'm concerned with. If I were doing a presentation where I was far away from the screen, I would definitely choose one of them over the other because of it though.Make sure that you put screw-in part of the battery cover on straight before you start turning it. It's a little harder than I'd like to get on, but nothing to worry too much about.
Other Thoughts:My dog doesn't care that one of the beams is just a slight bit out of focus, she just cares that there's a mysterious red object moving around she has to get (or try to get).
Bottomline:If you want an inexpensive laser for everything from presentations to dog or cat playthings, this is a great choice, if for no other reason than the batteries are easy to find and inexpensive to replace.

Cons:the button isnt the best quality feels quite week but i dont think it will break any time soonbatteries wobble around a little bit but isnt really noticeable unless you shake it or are looking for it
Other Thoughts:Some people are saying that they are having problems with the batteries and screw cap getting on? Well that hasnt happened with me :) both work perfectlyalso dont try to pot mod this laser, I tried and im pretty sure theres no way of doing it :(all i achieved was a waste of timebut it still works so im happyAlso if you do buy it, shine it in a bucket of water or something you can see the beam
Bottomline:Great if you want a laser buy it. You can't go wrong with $3Also came through australian customs so im not complaining :DBuy it, its pretty much perfect

Pros:-Bright: The dot is very bright-Range: The range is quite good in daytime with the dot still visible-Battery Life: The battery life is very good. Does not consume batteries very quickly-Build Quality: Appears very durable
Cons:The little battery cap on the end is a little fidgety to screw back on, but you don't need to much anyway.
Other Thoughts:Definitely worth the money if you're looking for a cheap laser that works well. Looks great and esthetically pleasing
Bottomline:A great laser for this price. Much brighter than most lasers you've seen because they are most likely

Pros:Really good laser for a great price. It's really good that it's using standard AAA-batteries and not those cell-batteries other lasers use.The price is so great so it's not much to think about.
Cons:The bottom-part that you have to screw loose to insert the batteries was a bit hard to put back on.But this isn't really something to care about, I just had to add something negative about the product.
Bottomline:I don't know if this really is a 5mW laser. It's really strong and you can clearly see the dot ~100 meters away if you're pointing at a flat surface. (nighttime)If you want a good cheap laser, buy this one!

Pros:This Laser Pointer uses common AAA batterys, thats very good! The power of the beam is good for that price. The build quality of the pointer is also good.I have two of this pointers for about 3 month and they still work without any problems. The ponter feels solid and heavy in your hand. You can drop it from a table and it will still work.
Cons:There is really no con.
Other Thoughts:dealtoworlde deals with a lot of laserpointer. This is a must have pointer!
Bottomline:I bought that pointer for my nice. She likes to see her dog running behind the point. Her other dog is not interested in the red point. Funny

| Overall Rating: |
Pros:very nice, my first laser pointer. i live on the 13th floor and this laser works when i point it out the window onto street level and across the block.
Cons:there's a bit of "noise". when you use this on a surface very close, you will notice a feint red "cloud" around the dot, like a flashlight effect. but this is irrelevant when it's used on anything more than a few feet away. also the dot is actually more like an oval - not a perfect circle. but again, irrelevant when the dot is more than a few feet away.
Other Thoughts:does not come with a box, but the build quality is fine. 2 AAA batteries not included. put the batteries in with the positive end facing OUT.
Bottomline:what the hell, how can you go wrong with a laser that costs less than 3 bucks that works perfectly fine?!?!?

| Price: |

| Ease of Use: |
| Build Quality: |
| Usefulness: |
| Overall Rating: |
Pros:1. The cover at the front to prevent unintentional laser is very considerate. When it is on the pointer, it diverges the laser. 2. The build is solid and classy. The metal tube does not change shape when being gently pushed. The pocket clip design is practical.
Cons:1. The tube is slightly narrow. The batteries need to be pushed in. 2. The end part doesn't fit smoothly. So it need to be positioned well before being screwed in.
Bottomline:As a basic pointer at a basic point, there is nothing fancy. Even though the point is not completely focused, it is good enough for presentation.

| Overall Rating: |
Pros:-the pen is very tough and elegant.-price is good considering what you get-good brightness, can indeed see the beam in the dark if you aim it in your direction-powered by 2 AAA batteries. Much more convenient than pills.-batteries fit in the tube very well. No rattle.-lens seems to cure astigmatism, the 'dot" is actually round(ish) at 10m (at least on my unit)
Cons:-I've seen cleaner dots and lower divergence... This one has lots of noise, and the "dot" shape @10m looks like an enlarged fingerprint (round, though). Of course, the laser I had that had a 4x9mm dot at 50 meters was much more expensive.
Other Thoughts:
Bottomline:It's a *pointer*, not a sniper rifle aiming aid or a precision level, and for this purpose it is great.

Best red laser of the year 5mw

Pros:I wanted a laser that ran off different batteries than those expensive super small button type. Here it is 2 AAA batteries. The AAA batteries last longer too. The red dot it puts out is good. If dark enough can be seen 1/4 mile away. The push button on mine works just fine.
Cons:It is difficult to thread the battery cap on without cross threading. I CAN do it but it takes some concentration. no biggie.
Other Thoughts:I don't really have a use for this thing except to amuse myself and play with the cat. I'm happy with the way it works and the price I paid.
Bottomline:I don't regret buying it. Glad it takes AAA batteries.

Pros:it just cheap well-made red laser pointervery bright so i can even see the beam (in very dark room or of i points it to my face (no an eye! too bright!)i think its less than 650nm brcause the beam is little visible in dark rooms - i cant see the beam of any other 5mw red laseralso it is very easy to get module out and use the module as collimator for homemade dvd-rw laser - just perfect
Cons:there is many cons like laser is not a point but some sort of shape like _____________| | |_____________|and there is no instruction or even boxand lens is plasticand...damn, look at the price!there is no consits just perfect cheap laser!its bright as hell (for cheap laser)or its bright as 1mw of green =)

Pros:+ Laser comes out when you press the button+ It's red+ Very cheap+ Cats go nuts, they react much better to red laser than green laser.+ Adjustable focus
Cons:- Not a cheap as other red lasers- Casing is thin metal, mine had dents in it from shipping so I had to push the batteries in. (They'll never come out again).- One of the 2 I bought has laser dot with big spiral. Maybe a dirty lens? Still good for playing with cats.
Other Thoughts:& Would make great gifts to little kids without eyes.& May give one to my grandma and tell her spock gave it to me
Bottomline:* Just get one already, nope the mailman treats it nice so you can get the batteries in.

Pros:Uses AAA batteries that is a must for me. Gives a great bright point (once I focused it). feels like a solidly built unit, which was a big surprise at this price. It works just as well with rechargeable batteries as it does with alkaline batteries.
Cons:Could have the battery orientation printed somewhere as the batteries go in the opposite way to what you would think. Also had to focus it my self as the point was about 25cm from about 8 foot away.
Other Thoughts:
Bottomline:If you need a laser that takes AAA batteries then this is for you.

Pros:Looks like a pen.Super chhheeeap! I may buy more for friends with kittens!Super bright, one of the brightest 5mw lasers out there.Body is metal, feels very solid.Easy to use. Takes AAA batteries which are super cheap compared to button cells, almost $5 a battery! I put lithium AAA batteries in mine, should run for a few hours total.Diode is focused very well, I feel heat when I point it on my skin.
Cons:No instructions. Took three tries on which way the batteries went before it worked. For anyone reading, the flat side goes in first.Button is a little "clacky". It rattles around when the pointer is shaken.
Other Thoughts:Great little pointer for its cheap price!
Bottomline:Get it.

Pros:This little laser does all you could want! (well almost)..+ super cheap+ AAA powered, good run times and dirt cheap batts!+ well focused dot visible for a long distance, even better at night!
Cons:For this price I cant find fault, no down sides to this product.
Other Thoughts:I wish DTW had a bigger red laser section on the site, it jumps from 5mw to 100mw! Im sure lots out there want more options.
Bottomline:This laser is the best option for its size, dont wast your time on any of the small button cell powerd, there dim and eat the button cells. DTW is the best site for this sort of stuff, I love it!!!!!!

Pros:Doesn't feel too cheap. Decent red laser dot.I like that it takes normal AAA batteries.Very stylish and compact.
Cons:Doesn't hold a candle to a green laser. But still very cool.Would be nice if the dot were a little brighter, but there's only so much you can do for under three bucks.
Other Thoughts:It's a decent little red laser. Not the best but acceptable for the price. It seems very solid, so it won't be falling apart anytime soon like other red lasers I've had.
Bottomline:If you want a cheap red laser, this is a good buy. I'd like to get a better one, though. I didn't expect great considering the price.

Other Thoughts:the batteries go in the "wrong way", so watch that.the guy I sold the 1-battery version to is gonna be jealous...batteries not included

Pros:+ Good design+ Feels solid+ Good length and width+ Nice screw-on battery cap+ Red point visible even in strong sunlight
Cons:- the button rattles a bit
Other Thoughts:Batteries go in the other way than you'd expect. Flip them around before cursing a defective product.Width of the beam is what you'd expect from a product like this. Great for pointing on the board of a classroom - already a bit too wide if you're on the back of a big lecture hall.
Bottomline:Need a cheap laser pointer?Buy this one.
