Pros:This is a great drop in module. It is very bright. I'm not sure what other lights it would drop into easily but it does fit with some effort and grinding into a D sized maglight. I will post pics of how I got it to fit when I get a camera.-It stays on whatever brightness you have it set on as long as it is turned off for a couple seconds before being turned back on
Cons:-I don't like the strobe and SOS modes. I wish it was just High-Med-Low. -If you get it to fit in a maglight it will never be able to be used with the bulb again.-I put masking tape on the reflector when I was grinding it and it pulled off some of the shiny stuff(just on the flat top part--doesn't effect the light but doesn't look real good).
Other Thoughts:You have to grind:-the lip inside the head of the maglight that used to support the refector-where the threads start inside the head of the maglight-some of the heat sink on the module-one of the threads on the edge of the module-the ring on the face of the module
Bottomline:I'm very happy with this. I used a dremel tool with a round cutting bit - it has flutes that cut. You cant use a grinding stone on alluminum it just clogs up. -To take the switch out of a maglight you pull off the rubber cover and insert a 5/64" hex key in the hole to loosen a grub screw. Then push the switch out the bottom end. Google it.
