| Pros:Solid construction, quiet electronics, good fit and finish. Good sound level, so the mic works well for VOIP and teleconferencing. Some resistance to wind noise, but a small foam wind filter should be used when outdoors. It's short, so it won't put side force on a mic jack like larger gooseneck mics like 21462. It's touted as "noise-cancelling", and it picks up less harddisk and fan noise than a pure omnidirectional mic I tried. | |
| Cons:There's a small audible (recordable) squeek while changing the angle of the mic, so leave it alone while recording. It picks up a more harddisk and fan noise than my noise cancelling headset mic. | |

| Pros:I recently spent quite a bit on an Olympus WS-311m digital audio recorder for use researching my PhD. These recorders are great but the built in microphones are pretty poor however, they are a massive saving on the DS range with separate detachable microphones. Olympus sell separate microphones but you're lucky to find them for less than £25/$48 so I decided to chance one of these Hyundai models. I know there are better ones on DTW however I liked that fact that you can angle this one, more useful for interviews when you're moving about and holding the recorder. The mic arrived well packaged and it is extremely good quality. The hinge is solid and it's made from rigid and lasting materials. I've been testing the recorder with and without the microphone on directly spoken word and from a distance, recording speech radio.
