Building your own cables?

Involvement: General (knows how to use it) - Ownership: more than 1 month
Price:
Ease of Use:
Build Quality:
Usefulness:
Overall Rating:
Pros:Does what's it supposed to.Easy to use.
Cons:As others says. It's pretty cheap and flimsy. The battery compartment is a tad small for most 9v batteries and need to be forced in. Might crack if the plastic gets brittle with time.
Other Thoughts:Nothing much to say - you probably already know what it's for :)
Bottomline:Building your own cables or often having doubts about a cable working correctly? If yes, then you need a cable tester. May spare you for a lot of gray hairs :)But please consider if this is appropriate for you or if you want spend a few dollars more for better quality.

Pros:Very useful tool. Works good. Just check the contact between the wires on the network cable. Can check phone cables too, that is good.
Cons:Very fragile. Made of a thin plastic. The battery must be "forced" in because there is no much space to fit it.
Other Thoughts:Maybe it was designed to low power consuption and don´t need to change the battery frequently. But mine is rechargeable, and I sure need to use it in another devices.
Bottomline:Good device. Does what it was designed to. Bad build quality, but cheap. If you use with careful, and are just an amateur like me, I think it worths the buy. For professional heavy duty use, I would not choose this.

better buy a more expensive one

Pros:- very cheap- small size- nice looking- very light of weight
Cons:- the Buildt Quality is the worst i've ever seen (brocken in the first 20 Minutes of ownership)
Other Thoughts:I don't know if every one is buildt so worse like mine, but i decided to choose one more expensive and hope that this would work better. I think this would be a nice tool to check the network cables easily if it works.Shipping: the shipping self took about 8 Workdays (really fast for some 1000's Kilometers) and it was packed really good.
Bottomline:i would buy it again (for this price is not much thrown away if it breaks ;-) )

Works ok, but...

Involvement: Expert (understands the inner workings) - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month
Price:
Ease of Use:
Build Quality:
Usefulness:
Overall Rating:
Pros:It works as a simple tester works, sending voltage pin-to-pin one by one, looping the sequence. The working situation is veryfied by the corresponding led!
Cons:The hole the 9v battery is suposed to be could not suport a easy replacement! You will need to force the enter or (like I`ve done) you need to open the device and plugin
Other Thoughts:
Bottomline:The on/off button is ATX like (I dont know the write name), the button do not have a lock. So I think the internal circuit can waste some energy (not sure yet), let`s seed the battery durability!
