Pros:- very rare color for a laser, I got a lot of positive reactions from other people.- a line is possible to see in darkness, and with smoke way better.- I think mine is pretty good build quality. my green one has problems with shaking batteries, this one hasn't.
Cons:- really dangerous because of the 100 mw, you don't think it's bright but in fact it is an extremely powerfull laser.
Other Thoughts:- our marble floor is phosphorescent, I never knew this, but it's fun in the darkness to see a trace were you shine the laser.
Bottomline:It's fun to have a special laserpointer like this, but it's almost completely useless except for fun use. It's great in the clubs with smoke generator, and the girls seem to like it.

its ok

Pros:it feels good to hold , its purple , can burn stuff with a magnifying glass just like the sun but more powerfull.
Cons:the connector spring is uncoiled and there are scratches all over the pointer and the fact that you need to focus the beam to burn tuff because its not already focused.
Other Thoughts:its pretty cool to have a purple laser, its fun just like my green one, there fun toys just be carefull not to blind anyone.
Bottomline:its good for fun but if you want to burn things and dont want to have to carry and magnifying glass then its not for you.

Nice... :)

Pros:Power... Mine has 110mW on fresh batteries :)Burns *various* color plastic, matches, paper etc, pops balloons fast. (Note that burning etc requires additional focusing.)Try thermal paper for some fun :)And of course the cool color. And the fluorescence on many materials.
Cons:Not bright, due to the low visibility of that wavelength (0,5% compared to green, photopic), spot visibility is comparable to 1mW green, beam visibility is better though (due to higher Raman scattering). No focusing; I use an additional lens in front for that. Beam is about 4-5mm wide, so burning definitely requires focusing.Dangerous! Even if its not that bright, it still is a 100mW laser and thus dangerous!
Other Thoughts:These are direct lasers, meaning the laser diode directly emits 405nm light, unlike the green lasers with conversion steps; so no IR-hassle here.Note that the spot on a wall might look big to you, like a badly collimated laser, but actually it isn't. It's just that your eye can't focus that wavelength well, so it seems blurry.
Bottomline:Do not buy that one for brightness.I would have liked a focusable one.I gave it a low usefulness rating because I don't know many 'good' uses (besides fluorescence experiments). And again, this thing is dangerous! Note that a person's (or animal's) retina always has a well focusing lens in front of it, and you know what this laser can do when focused!
