| Pros:The quality of construction was pretty good. On/off button seems really solid on the one I received. Glow in the dark stuff, watch out! It really charges them fast and bright.Uses AAA batteries, easy enough to find (buy the top end AAA's for this and be happy) | |
| Cons:Not very bright in the daylight, but knew that when purchased.A bit pricey compared to some of the other comparable models of lasers DTW offers.Dot washes out at short ranges in daylightBattery life was much shorter then expected.Batteries rattle inside of case.Limited daytime usefulness, since dot is not very bright in bright sunlight. | |
| Other Thoughts:In VERY dark conditions, you can see the beam, especially with brand new batteries.Rides in my uniform shirt pocket comfortably.Got a lot of attention around the campfire during a camp out and was a big hit with the little kids, since I could write their names on glow in the dark toys (although temporary). | |
| Bottomline:A bit pricey and has limited uses, but if you want a unique, eye catching laser pointer for that little "extra" pizzaz for you next presentation at the office, this is the pointer to buy. | |
Excellent, Unique Laser |

| Pros:This laser is a very unique blue/violet color. The color is hard to describe, but it is similar to the light emitted by various "UV" LED gadgets, and I imagine its laser diode is driven by similar hardware. In a world stuffed full of people waving around dollar store red laser pointers (and an increasing number of people waving around green laser pointers) this purple color is refreshingly unique. I haven't seen anyone anywhere selling lasers of this color. (The Blu-Ray derived blue lasers, while also being much more expensive, are a different color.) The laser beam also contains enough near-UV to make fluorescent and glow in the dark items light up. Using the laser beam you can actually DRAW on glow in the dark surfaces like posters, and the path you doodle will glow for quite some time.Construction quality is quite good, and about on par with my "executive" Radio Shack red laser pointer which cost about ten times more (ten years ago). | |
| Cons:The blue/violet color is on the edge of the human eye's sensitivity range, so the dot appears much dimmer than competing red or green 5mw lasers. I would rank the apparent brightness about par with a cheap "5mw" red laser from a discount store, but if you shine the dot at a fluorescent surface (most white pigmented surfaces like white wall paint and white clothing are fluorescent) the dot lights up spectacularly, even visible in direct sunlight in most cases. My unit arrived with the batteries rattling around loose in the box, not taped or secured down, and while knocking about in transit they scratched the finish of the pointer. | |
| Other Thoughts:Comparability with regular AAA batteries is a huge plus. Many lasers sold in discount stores around here are pen sized for no apparent reason (as opposed to keychain sized) but demand 3x LR44 batteries which are expensive and don't last long. It is refreshing to see a laser big enough to take AAA's actually use them, providing long battery life with cheap (and optionally rechargeable) batteries. It is unknown how much extra UV radiation this laser emits. If you are paranoid about safety, a simple pair of UV400 sunglasses or safety glasses will block the vast majority of all the light emitted from this laser. I have a pair of clear (no darkening) UV400 rated safety glasses that block nearly 100% of this laser. Conversely, a pair of my cheap dollar store "Total UV Protection!" sunglasses do not attenuate the beam at all. This laser seems to be a good way to test the UV blocking effectiveness of eyewear! | |
| Bottomline:This is an excellent and for now very unique plaything. It is certain that no one in your area has ever seen a purple laser before, and shining it at UV reactive surfaces is tons of fun. | |

| Pros:InexpensiveEye-catching Purple!Legal (in USA)Looks like it has headroom for moddingAAAs, always niceAmazing fun with glow in the dark toys! | |
| Cons:Quite dim and fuzzy compared to green laser, but that's the nature of the 405nm beast.Really a purplish-blue, if that matters to you. | |
| Other Thoughts:Very nice unit for the money!I had no difficulty with Customs, thank goodness, but the label said clearly Glow in the dark toys are a blast with this, you can draw a sigil in just a second onto a GITD flying disc. (Freak your friends, summon Hastur in mid game!) | |
| Bottomline:I'm very pleased to complete my RGB laser collection with this puppy.(OK, not COMPLETE, really, but at least I now have one of each.) | |
Its okay... |

| Pros:Its an okay Laser for first time users. It is very bright on White surfacesIt has more that one colour! It is Light Blue Flourcent coulout when you shine it on white surfaces and it is Purple on mostly on any other colour. | |
| Cons:When it is Purple it is a very dull dim light which made me very sad :(The packaging had 2 batteries that wernt even in the holes! | |
| Other Thoughts:I wished that the dot was WAY brighter but there isnt much to expect from a 5 mw. | |
| Bottomline:Its price is a little bit high but it has more than 1 colour. So you can experiment with several objects!Buy it. | |

| Pros:Bright, powerful and cheap. Can make things glow. Beam can be seen in a dark enough environment. Uses AAA batteries which are available everywhere. Came with batteries. | |
| Cons:Mine makes noise like something is loose inside. If you hit yourself in the eye its not good. Not amazing build quality but for this price what do you expect? | |
| Other Thoughts:Its 5mm< which is great because i can't buy anything else because DTW wont allow it. Its a great compliment to my green and red. I don't know why i bought it, lasers are mostly useless, but i still buy them, why? | |
| Bottomline:A great laser, even better if you have a wall with glow in the dark paint on it, (think glow on the wall art.) | |
